Life of Galileo Galilei

Galileo Galilei was born in the year of 1564 in Pisa, a city in in Tuscany, Central Italy. Being the first of six, his father Vincenzo Galilei a musician &scholar wanted the best for him. When Galileo became of age his father enrolled him in to Camaldolese monastery in Vallombrosa. In 1581 he entered the University of Pisa to study medicine, but became very interested in mathematics.  Due to financial difficulties Galileo was forced to leave the university in 1585, but never gave up studying mathematics and objects in motion. He was able to publish "The Little Balance", which brought him fame and a teaching position at the University of Pisa in 1589. Later Galileo found a new teaching position at the University of Padua, where he taught geometry, mechanics, and astronomy. Since his lectures were so entertaining, large groups gathered to hear them. In 1600 Galileo met Marina Gamba, giving him three children. His two daughters was force to enter into the convent. Galileo never married her because of financial worries and fear that it would threaten his social standing. Later in 1642 Galileo suffered from a fever and heart problems, which caused his death. After his death the Church couldn't deny his work on the truth of science. The Church lifted the ban on all his work, which eventually gave him the name The Father of Modern Science.
